about

Incantabulos

Incantabulos is Invocation Trio's first studio album, recorded in October of 2001 after being delayed by 9/11, on which the recording was to be initiated. Steve and Brian were scheduled to fly ON 9/11.The resulting difficulties for Brian and Steve to get back to Boston added intensity and heaviness to the music. (Brian was in San Francisco and Steve, Milwaukee.)

Brian and Steve were away from Boston for nearly five years after the trio graduated from Berklee College of Music. It was good to come back to Everett Manor, home of Raven's Nest Studio where Jimmy still resided.
The recordings Invocation Trio made prior to this were cassette reference tapes, extremely low fidelity, but great content. There was so much emotion and power on those tapes that we had to keep going.
This led us to seek venues including the Knitting Factory in New York and more bootleg recordings.
All three musicians became gradually engrossed in musical ventures that 'pay the bills'. This session was about catharsis, expression. It was a blast to have all of us back at the house. We were room mates there for two plus years, which gave us time to form musical and philosophical bonds that paved the way for the work we're doing now.
